Does anyone else feel like they go through life needing a life lesson alarm clock? Mine goes off and sometimes it wakes me up. Other times I hit the snooze button to delay it or worse yet turn the button off to continue in my current way.
Although I pride myself on being a life-long student of self-exploration, I haven’t sought out reminder intervention. But they have recently come to me in a variety of forms. On Facebook, I somehow got onto two feeds – Power of Positivity and Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life. I can’t tell you how enlightening or re-enlightening these messages are. Not only are they short snippets of wisdom, but they are truly serendipitous. They seem to show up on my feed at the right time, staring me in the face, calling me out on my thoughts and my actions. My mother also sends me daily empowering quotes. I also get these reminders in the form of advice from friends and family upon hearing what is going on in my life. The most recent one that was said by a few friends was “You deserve so much better.”

Two such messages appeared on today’s Facebook feed. The first was “Never chase love, affection, or attention, if it isn’t given freely by another person, it isn’t worth having.” Later I received the message, “Things worth having are worth waiting for. ” Both of these lessons speak to two of my biggest challenges – love and dreams.
To be honest, these messages both bring me back to reality and hope and bring me back to shame. The shame comes from doubting myself in both love and my dreams. It boils down to me thinking that this is the best it will be. The shame also comes from knowing I learned that lesson a thousand times, forgot it a thousand times, and needed to learn it at least a thousand and one.
These quotes also remind me of one of my favorite quotes. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” I can’t tell you how many times I have banged my head on the same wall, expecting it not to hurt.
I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Even if I’ve made the same mistake a thousand times, it’s forming me into a better and stronger version of myself. To continue the process of enhancing myself, I will continue to seek out these reminders, so that I can rewire myself into truly believing that in love and dreams I do deserve so much more. #lifelessonalarmclock, #alarmclocksinthecosmos
